Pepsi and Major League Baseball Teaming Up For Exclusive Pepsi-Infused Ketchup Launch




According to the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, Americans will consume over 150 million hot dogs on July 4th. This year, Pepsi is offering something special to spice up the experience: Pepsi Colachup, the world’s first Pepsi-infused ketchup, specially developed to be served at four Major League Baseball parks. In an exclusive in-stadium sampling during the home games of the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks, and New York Yankees, visitors will have the opportunity to taste this innovative condiment. The sampling will be available at the designated sections of the stadiums:

Creation of Pepsi Colachup: A New Culinary Innovation

Pepsi collaborated with the Culinary Institute of America Consulting to create this new condiment. Pepsi Colachup merges the distinct sweet, citrusy taste of Pepsi-Cola with the tangy character of ketchup. The condiment has been designed to enhance the flavor of hot dogs, offsetting their smokiness with a vibrant citrus blend. “The concept is both simple and creative,” said David Kamen, director of client experience for CIA Consulting. “The distinctive flavors and vibrant citrus blend of Pepsi enhances the bright and tangy characteristics of ketchup, offsetting the smokiness of the hot dog. It’s a whole new way to enjoy two American classics.”

Endorsement and Promotion

Joey Chestnut has already endorsed Pepsi’s new product, widely regarded as the greatest competitive eater of all time. Chestnut, a 15-time hot dog-eating champion, expressed his enthusiasm about the Pepsi partnership, saying, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Pepsi to show America that hot dogs go better with Pepsi.” Jenny Danzi, Senior Director at Pepsi, echoed this sentiment, stating that “We invented Pepsi Colachup to reinforce just how well hot dogs and Pepsi go together – an unapologetically mouthwatering creation that seamlessly merges a condiment with the ultimate hot dog pairing beverage, delivering a unified taste experience.”

Free Pepsi Offer for Hot Dog Lovers

Pepsi is not only launching this exciting new product but also offering a free Pepsi to those who can’t make it to the ballpark. From now until July 4th, customers who purchase a hot dog with a Pepsi at any food service or retail location can text “FREEPEPSI” to 81234, upload the receipt showing a hot dog and a Pepsi purchase, and get reimbursed the cost of a 20oz Pepsi product, via PayPal, Venmo or Digital Retailer Gift Card.
