Memorable and Regrettable Met Gala Looks

The Met Gala is well known for its unforgettable red carpet moments, but it has also witnessed some unfortunate fashion choices. Here are a few Met Gala ensembles that celebrities later regretted,

  • SZA’s Vivienne Westwood Gown (2022), SZA did not like her hot pink Vivienne Westwood gown, noting that it contributed to her feeling anxious at the event.
  • Taylor Swift’s “Bleachella” Look (2016), At the 2016 Gala, Swift unveiled a new hair look but later reflected humorously about cringing at this past outfit.
  • Selena Gomez’s SelfTanner Mishap (2018), Gomez experienced a mishap with self tanner, resulting in photos where she appeared orange, a factor unrelated to her actual dress.
  • Kim Kardashian’s Floral Givenchy Gown (2013), Kardashian received much criticism over her floral Givenchy gown during her first Met Gala appearance and became the subject of memes. However, she grew to appreciate the gown despite initially being upset.
  • Rihanna’s Yellow Guo Pei Gown (2015), Rihanna’s bold yellow dress received mixed reviews, with some peopleing it to an omelette. Nonetheless, Rihanna took these comments in good humour.
  • Nicki Minaj’s Burberry Gown (2022), Although Minaj admired her gown from Burberry, she wasn’t entirely pleased with how it fit and contemplated having a breast reduction afterwards.
  • Kim Kardashian’s Balmain Dress (2016), Kardashian was happy with her choice of dress but later felt that different eyebrow styling would have been better.
  • Nick Jonas’s Missed “Camp Rock” Moment (2019), At the event, Jonas humorously mentioned he missed an opportunity to dress in a “Camp Rock” theme that would have suited the occasion well.
  • Katy Perry’s Burger Costume (2019), Perry humorously expressed regret for not making her appearance more dramatic by rolling down the stairs in her burger outfit.

Jennifer Garner’s Fear of the Met Gala

Jennifer Garner admitted she attended the Met Gala only once in 2007 wearing a beautiful red Valentino gown. She has not returned since because she is intimidated by the event.
“I went to the Met Ball exactly one time.
“It was a bit frightening, so I haven’t returned,” Garner told Vogue.
Despite her fear, Garner has positive memories of her time in that striking red gown.

Celebrities Who Didn’t Enjoy the Met Gala

  • Tina Fey (2010), Fey called the event a “jerk parade” and chose not to attend again.
  • Demi Lovato (2016), Lovato faced challenges with cliques and discomfort at the gala, feeling it might lead her to relapse.
  • Zayn Malik (2016), Malik found that the Gala did not match his interests, preferring to spend time on productive activities at home instead of attending glamorous events.
  • Billie Eilish (2021), Eilish described the event as surreal and felt like she was navigating high school dynamics, feeling misplaced among celebrities.
