Hurry run outside and take a look up! A rare occurrence is taking place in our solar system. Mercury which is our smallest planet in our solar system is making a rare appearance today as it crosses over the sun’s path.
From now until 2:45pm Eastern Time today you will be able to see Mercury as a little black dot as it crosses over the sun. This event only takes place about 12 times every 100 years and while a tiny black dot moving across the sun might not be exciting for us normal every day citizens for astronomers the event will allow them to learn a little more about the planet which we will have a lot to learn about.
But keep in mind before you run out to take a look that staring at the sun came be very harmful to your eyes!
