How do you express your true passion towards your job? Well, we all have our own set of ways or sheer reluctance to do or not do something our work demands. Not for Halo Infinite audio producers.

In the recent revelation made by the Halo Infinite Audio Developer 343, a piano was smashed to record sound effects. We live in the era where sounds are created just like that, but might lack the authentic feel when it comes to feeling the sound.

The team posted a video wherein the 343 audio team was smashed for the audio recording. But, no, they didn’t just smash the piano, there was a procedural methodology involved in this as well. 343’s audio team first placed a subwoofer on the piano. This was done to get a resonator to the smashing. After the piano was thrashed to death, the team then put dry ice on the innumerable pieces of the remains of the piano. According to the team, this act “yielded a large offering of singing, bellowing, screeching and everything in between.”

To know what the audio results were like, you need to watch the audio, but they surely would run a chill down your spine.

Truth be told, this is not the first time when the team smashed a piano for sound effects. Last act of this sort as done by them for Death Stranding.

Sometimes we do not shift from one version of the game to another thinking how much change can actually be there. “How different can Halo Infinite be from Halo 5?”, we might find ourselves questioning about the change. Well, Halo Infinite is going to be very different. The sound and audio in itself is a corroborative proof how audio of a game can act as an active catalyst in your motivation levels when playing it. Halo Infinite has an acoustic system that will differ in single and multi-player games as well.

The sound effects of Halo Infinite will see a transformation from Halo 5. As a user, you will be able to differ the gunshot sounds in both games. Whether it be single or multiple player games, you will be able to sense a difference. Even if you use headphones for playing sound, it would feel like a whole new version.

Another revelation made by the 343 team was that Halo Infinite is going to be a audio marvel. The game will be supportive of virtual surround sound technologies like Dolby Atmos, Windows Sonic, and DTS Headphone:X. Halo Infinite is going to be an elixir of audio that will increase the experience of playing the game manifold.

The blog is a must read if sound, games and music interest you. It is an eye opener to how much effort it goes in bringing out perfection to a game. So, prep up your audio system game as Halo Infinite has a lot to offer. If you want the best experience out of it, audio sounds is something you should look forward to.
